Latino Spanish-speaking older adults have low engagement in serious illness communication and face critical challenges related to language barriers. This study will explore the serious illness communication needs and experiences of Latino Spanish-speaking older adults engaging in clinic and home-based palliative care from the perspective of patients, monolingual and bilingual palliative care clinicians, and Spanish-speaking professional medical interpreters. This research will inform future clinician- and interpreter-facing interventions focused on improving serious illness communication and care for Latino Spanish-speaking older adults.
