In this exploratory qualitative study, we are interviewing interprofessional clinicians who engage Spanish-speaking patients and care partners in serious illness communication to better understand the experiences, barriers, and facilitators to communication with this patient population. We are engaging both clinicians across disciplines, including palliative care, oncology, critical care, and hospital medicine, and professions, including physicians, advanced practice nurses, and social workers. This research project pairs closely with the MGH CTDA project, which elicits the patient perspective in these clinical interactions.
