Dr. Amy McLean is a nurse practitioner in the Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders Program at Barrow Neurological Institute.Her expertise includes the holisticcare of individuals with cognitivedisorders and support for their care partners. In addition to diagnosis and treatment, she specializes in facilitating patient and care partner conversations, guiding families through evidence-based decision-making, andproviding education, including brain-healthy lifestyle interventions, understanding neuropalliative care and hospice, delirium prevention, and navigation of behavioral and cognitive changes. She has shared her expertise through formal and informal presentations, including locations within the US and China. Dr. McLean earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and her Master of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University in Tempe. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University.Dr. McLean is a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials aiming to prevent and improve treatment for Alzheimer’sdisease and other cognitive disorders. Her specific research interests include supporting persons living with Lewy Body disease and their care partners, advance care planning, delirium, compassionate and skillful communication, and symptom management. Within the next three years, she plans to be principle investigator on multiple clinical trials.
