Bianca Shieu, PhD, RN
Scholar, 2026
Dr. Shieu is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio School of Nursing, where she brings expertise in working with elderly individuals experiencing dementia across both nursing home facilities and diverse communities. Her research broadly focuses on enhancing caregiver self-efficacy in complex care tasks and symptom management to improve the quality of life for persons living with dementia (PLWD). Currently, Dr. Shieu’s research focuses on two primary projects involving caregivers of PLWD: a web-based, caregiver-delivered ear acupressure program and an eHealth bilingual psychoeducation program known as CIRCLE. In the coming years, Dr. Shieu envisions expanding her research career by scaling these accessible, technology-driven interventions to reach broader and historically underserved populations. She aims to establish evidence-based, sustainable models of care that bridge the gap between innovative eHealth solutions and practical community applications, ultimately empowering caregivers while improving health outcomes for both these individuals and PLWD.
