Glenna Brewster, PhD, RN, FNP-BC

Dr. Glenna Brewster is an Assistant Professor on the tenure track at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. Her research centers around understanding and addressing sleep disturbances within persons living with cognitive changes and dementia, and their caregivers, while also developing behavioral interventions to effectively mitigate these challenges. Her research extends to tailoring psychoeducational interventions for caregivers in the Caribbean. In the future, Dr. Brewster envisions herself as a funded researcher leading national and global intervention research on sleep and culturally sensitive psychoeducational interventions in the dementia and caregiving fields. She has received funding from the National Institute on Aging and Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Brewster holds leadership positions on the Board of Directors for the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Association. Dr. Brewster earned an Associate’s of Science in Nursing from Broward College, followed by a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Science in Nursing, a Master’s of Arts in Gerontology, and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from the University of South Florida. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine.
