Jason Bowman, MD

Jason studied math, physics, and thanatology at the University of Rhode Island and attended Brown University for medical school. He completed residency and chief residency in the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency co-sponsored by Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham & Women’s Hospital (BWH), clinical fellowship in the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship at MGH, BWH, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), and also the DFCI Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care Research Fellowship. 

Today, Jason is faculty at Harvard Medical School and works clinically as an emergency and palliative medicine attending physician at BWH, MGH, and DFCI. His research is focused on better understanding patients with serious illness (like Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias) and their interactions with emergency medical services (EMS) and emergency departments (EDs), with the goal of improving quality of care and outcomes. His passion for this work in-part comes from his own personal experiences helping to care for his grandparents and mother as they each battled terminal illness. He lives in Boston with his wife, a surgery chief resident and soon to be surgical oncology fellow, and their very energetic husky rescue dog Jack.
