Dr. Karen Moss is a nurse scientist and an assistant professor in the Colleges of Nursing and Medicine at The Ohio State University. Dr. Moss’ research is focused on improving pain and healthcare decision making (advance care planning) outcomes by advancing palliative and end-of-life care for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and their family caregivers. She examines multistakeholder perspectives on factors that influence pain and end-of-life decision-making processes for African American older adults living with ADRD and their family caregivers. Dr. Moss also studies pain and stress in older adults living with ADRD and their family caregivers. She is the principal investigator in her health equity-focused Family Caregiver Community Research (FamCare) Lab. Dr. Moss is actively engaged in developing and testing palliative care-focused interventions to support African American ADRD caregivers. She is passionate about improving overall quality of life for African American older adults living with ADRD and their family caregivers.
