Rebecca (Beka) Mullen, MD, MPH

Scholar, 2025

Rebecca Mullen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine. She practices primary care in outpatient and inpatient settings, with an increasing emphasis on dementia care. Her research interests include loneliness and social isolation in older adults with and without cognitive impairment. Dr. Mullen is passionate about confronting loneliness and social isolation as a critical risk factor to cognitive decline and poor health outcomes in older adults. Her research aims to mitigate loneliness and social isolation in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia using community, care partner, and patient-engaged approaches. Dr. Mullen’s long term research goal is to reduce loneliness and social isolation, improve health outcomes and overall wellbeing (such as quality of life), and ultimately reduce the risk of MCI and dementia in older adults.
